45-year-old inmate dies at Nebraska State Penitentiary

LINCOLN, Neb. —

A 45-year-old inmate incarcerated at the Nebraska State Penitentiary died on Sunday at a Lincoln hospital.

Thomas Jones was serving a 50-year sentence out of Douglas County for first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.

A cause of death has not been determined for Jones.

A grand jury will investigate Jones’s death, as is standard practice.
