Iowa officials dedicate bridge to Department of Transportation worker who died in crash on Interstate 80

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa —

Officials honored an Iowa Department of Transportation worker who died on the job.

Matt Dickerson was killed in May 2024 after he was hit by a driver on Interstate 80 near Council Bluffs.

The “Matt Dickerson Memorial Bridge” in Pottawattamie County was named in his honor.

The DOT said this is a reminder to slow down in work zones, put distractions away, and move over for flashing lights.
