The news release said that on June 26, a missing person’s report was filed for a 12-year-old boy who had gone to a friend’s house on June 25 and did not come home.
Lincoln police started their investigation and found out the boy had been seen near the People’s City Mission with a friend and a woman. Investigators later found out that the woman, identified as Tracy Riley, 49, purchased three bus tickets to Texarkana, Arkansas.
On Monday, members of the Nebraska Metro Fugitive Task Force were asked to assist in finding Riley. Then the Arkansas task force and Texarkana police were asked to help.
Marshals located both the boy and Riley in a Texas park.
Riley was arrested for violation of custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She is awaiting extradition to Nebraska.
The boy “appeared in good health” and is now in protective custody.
