One of the men convicted in a deadly mass shooting in Omaha back in 2023 will serve decades behind bars.Javaris Hesseltine, 20, was sentenced to 70 to 98 years on Tuesday for manslaughter, first-degree assault, and two weapons charges.Prosecutors said in 2023, Hesseltine, William Willis and William Brown stole a car, drove to a party near 24th and Decatur streets, and started firing.Lamarantae Swift died, and five others were injured in the shooting. Swift was an 11th-grade student at Burke High School.Omaha police said a crowd of about 100 had gathered for a woman’s birthday party.Willis, who was found guilty of assault and discharging a firearm, was sentenced to 55 to 92 years in prison. Brown previously pleaded not guilty.
