Mother’s Day marked the end of spring Junkstock, bringing the market dedicated to a mother to a fitting end. In November 2025, co-founder Jon Alexander unexpectedly lost his mother to pancreatic cancer. His mother, Lisa, and his wife, Sara, were avid junkers and shared the hobby for years before her passing. The Alexander couple chose to use this Junkstock to celebrate her ‘junking’ collection.”A lot of the stuff that we used in the decorating this year was her stuff from her garden, her dishes and stuff like that,” Alexander said. The theme was Secret Garden — lots of flowers, greenery and sunshine filled Sycamore farms on Sunday morning.”She’s definitely here with this nice weather,” Alexander said. “We feel like maybe she dialed that up for us.”Over the last two weekends, hundreds showed up every day and appreciated Alexander’s mother, whether they knew it or not.”It’s been pretty busy every day. People line up, especially the last day,” Alexander said. “Everybody wants to come and get their last taste of Junkstock from the spring before we reset and do it all again this fall.”Whether that taste is an apple cider donut or some lemonade, junkers across the state showed up to celebrate their final trip through the Secret Garden. While the whole festival is for his mom, Alexander was thinking of everyone else.”I woke up this morning and I was like, ‘I need to call my mom,’ but I called my grandma instead,” Alexander said. “I just hope all the moms come out and have a good day today.”The family plans to take some time off before coming back to plan Junkstock for the fall.
