According to the lawsuit, Egan claims the altercation began when his friend accidentally bumped into a female employee, leading to an argument. The employee then called Stroud to intervene, and the situation escalated.Video footage from the incident shows Stroud punching Egan multiple times and later using his belt to whip him. Stroud was suspended during an investigation into the matter last year. Egan alleges he was banned from attending any events at PNC Park following the incident. Lawyers for the Pirates, in a letter, claim Egan provoked the fight and escalated the situation by spitting on an employee. The lawsuit claims the situation was misinterpreted and that Egan was never contacted during the internal investigation. It further claims PNC Park should provide better training for its employees and holds the park liable for Stroud’s conduct. Additionally, the filing states park officials were negligent in hiring Stroud, citing his criminal record. Egan is seeking damages for his medical bills, and the pain and suffering caused by negative media attention.The Pirates have responded to sister station WTAE saying they do not comment on pending litigation.
