LEXINGTON, Neb. —

The city of Lexington said it will acquire and manage some Tyson Foods assets.

This comes months after the company’s Nebraska plant closed.

The city said the assets in question include Tyson’s wastewater treatment facility and farmland.

More than 3,000 workers were left without jobs after the Tyson Plant closed in January.

In a post on social media, Nebraska Sen. Deb Fischer said she’s been pushing for this move in the “wake of their very sudden plant closure, which was devastating for the community. I look forward to seeing this plan move forward and working with the city to build a strong future.”
