Lucy Davis, ‘The Office’ and ‘Shaun of the Dead’ actress, announces incurable cancer

Lucy Davis, a veteran actress who starred in “The Office” and “Shaun of the Dead,” has revealed a devastating stage 4 breast cancer diagnosis, saying chemotherapy is no longer an option.

Davis, 53, said on social media Tuesday that the cancer has metastasized to her spine, right hip and rib, saying the cancer is incurable.

“The initial lump that I felt, wasn’t a ‘lump’ as such; rather a kind of hard spot. Really tiny. I almost didn’t bother getting it checked. So I guess I’m saying don’t ignore anything – get everything checked out,” the actress wrote.

Davis said she is at peace with her diagnosis, writing that she will see her beloved dog Gracie sooner than expected.

“As of now, I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can. I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard; there’s a lot I have learned from it, and I’m grateful for that,” she wrote.

Davis rose to prominence as Dawn Tinsley in the acclaimed British sitcom “The Office,” which became an international hit and inspired the long-running U.S. adaptation.

She went on to play Dianne in the 2004 cult horror-comedy “Shaun of the Dead” and Etta Candy in the 2017 blockbuster “Wonder Woman.”

Davis also starred as Hilda Spellman in Netflix’s “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” and Eva/Surge in Disney Channel’s “The Villains of Valley View.”
