From kickball and carnival games, one nonprofit brought the community together Sunday for an afternoon inspired by the simple fun of summer.
Share a Gameday hosted its Kickball Classic & Family Fun Fest at Brookhaven Park, giving families a chance to enjoy an afternoon of activities while learning more about the nonprofit’s mission.

Share a Gameday connects unused sports tickets with individuals and families who might not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a live sporting event. The organization says those experiences can create lasting memories and bring people together.
“Our nonprofit is all about memories. It’s all about providing people with memories, like a sporting event, to bring people together,” said Jess Sturm with Share a Gameday.
The free event featured casual kickball games throughout the afternoon, along with face painting, kids carnival games and live music. Families could also grab a treat from Mr. Ice Cream or spread out with a lawn chair or blanket in the park’s picnic area.
Through events like Sunday’s celebration and its sports ticket program, the nonprofit hopes to give more people opportunities to make memories together — whether that happens at a neighborhood park or inside a packed stadium.
