Man accused in deadly Sarpy County crash will go to trial
The man accused in a Sarpy County crash that killed a 32-year-old woman will go to trial.Charles Curley’s case will continue on to District Court for a felony reckless driving resulting in motor vehicle homicide charge.The crash occurred near 162nd Avenue and Harrison Street in October 2025. Previous coverage: Sarpy County deputies identify woman killed after collision in intersectionInvestigators said a Nissan Murano, which was driven by Lismary Cocho de la Paz, was traveling eastbound on Harrison Street, when a Chrysler Town and Country, which was driven by Zakari Abdoulaye, was northbound on 162nd Avenue, attempting to turn left onto Harrison Street.The two vehicles collided in the intersection, officials said.Cocho de la Paz’s vehicle was in the intersection, and she was outside of the vehicle checking the damage when another eastbound vehicle, an Audi Q5, driven by Curley, hit the rear of her disabled vehicle, the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office said.Officials said bystanders started CPR on Cocho de la Paz until first responders arrived, and she was taken to a local hospital with CPR in progress, where she was pronounced dead.Curley is scheduled to appear in court next on May 11. He’s being held on 10% of $75,000 bond. Investigators said a Nissan Murano, which was driven by Lismary Cocho de la Paz, was traveling eastbound on Harrison Street, when a Chrysler Town and Country, which was driven by Zakari Abdoulaye, was northbound on 162nd Avenue, attempting to turn left onto Harrison Street.
