The 57-year-old was found dead in June. According to court documents, Clarke claimed Jennifer tried to punch him and threatened to kill him.
Douglas County Sgt. Kayleigh Pigsley testified Clarke told her that Jennifer was screaming and he was worried about Samantha’s son waking up and that neighbors might call the police.
Pigsley said Clarke put his socks in Jennifer’s mouth then pressed his hands over her mouth until she stopped moving.
Samantha, who is charged with accessory to a felony and possession of a controlled substance, will also go to trial in the incident.
