Man dressed as Spider-Man who helped person in wheelchair cross highway talks about how superhero inspired him
JONESBORO, Ark. —
A man using a wheelchair was struggling to get across six lanes of traffic on a busy Arkansas road when help came in an unexpected way – from a spidery superhero who jumped into action from a red Jeep waiting at a light.
Christopher Hellenthal was dressed in his Spider-Man costume after a superhero-themed event at a trampoline park where he works. He spotted the person in traffic Tuesday and ran out to help.

Hellenthal rolled the person in the wheelchair to safety only seconds before the light changed and the rows of traffic advanced.
Hellenthal, who lives in Lake City, east of Jonesboro, said he’s always been a Spider-Man fan.
“I’ve always been a fan of Spider-Man, since whenever I was really little. I think he represents a lot more than what people really see. He’s just, he’s kind of like an everyday guy. He’s not very rich or nothing like that. He doesn’t come from money, and he’s very humble. And he has everyday problems just like everyone else around here,” said Hellenthal.
He even once had the opportunity to meet the late Stan Lee, who introduced Marvel superheroes such as Spider-Man.
