Man convicted of assaulting, resisting federal officer in ICE operation

The man who was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Lincoln earlier this year was convicted on Monday afternoon.
Juan Tlatenchi-Mireles withdrew his not guilty plea, instead pleading guilty to one count of assaulting and resisting a federal officer.

The Department of Homeland Security said agents conducted a targeted traffic stop back in January, working to arrest Tlatenchi-Mireles.
According to the department, Tlatenchi-Mireles has a criminal history of child abuse, assault, domestic violence, destroying property, and driving under the influence.

When agents tried to arrest him, he fled the scene, driving recklessly before ramming an Immigration and Customs Enforcement vehicle, the department said.
Then, according to the department, Tlatenchi-Mireles fled on foot, running into his home and barricading himself inside.
ICE agents secured a warrant for assault on a federal officer. They then entered the house and arrested Tlatenchi-Mireles.
His sentencing date is set for Oct. 22.
