Millard West alum and NFL star Harrison Phillips gives back to his ‘playmakers’ by handing out school supplies

OMAHA, Neb. —

It’s back to school season, and NFL star and Millard West alum Harrison Phillips took time out of his day before he left for training camp with the Jets to hand out school supplies to his “Playmakers.”

Teaming up with the Salvation Army and KETV, Phillips said he loves to give back, especially setting his “Playmakers” up for success in school.

“There’s a lot of excitement. There’s also a lot of anxiety. There’s a lot of anxiousness. I’m getting ready to go off to training camp here in just a few days. And these kids as they’re coming through, I’m like ‘Hey, summer’s almost over. You excited to go back?’ Or families with developmental disabilities and special needs who might also have some financial struggles to try to ease that burden heading into the fall season. I think going back to school with a brand new folder, a brand new colored pencil, and a backpack. Some people are buying first day of school clothing. It just makes you feel more positive about the experience,” Phillips said.

Phillips and his parents greeted more than 180 kids at the event.
