Missouri running back Ahmad Hardy in stable condition after being shot at a concert
Missouri star running back Ahmad Hardy is in stable condition after being shot at a concert in Mississippi over the weekend, officials with the University of Missouri said Monday.Hardy was shot early Sunday morning. The All-American running back underwent surgery for the gunshot wound later that day and is listed as stable, Missouri’s football program announced in a statement. “Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans,” Mizzou Athletics said in a statement. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support.”The details of the shooting were not immediately clear.Hardy was first-team All-SEC last season and was second among FBS players with 1,649 rushing yards. He was named SEC Newcomer of the Year after transferring from UL Monroe. ESPN reporter Pete Thamel said, per sources, Hardy is alert and moving around Monday. He is expected to play again; however, the full nature and impacts of his injury are unknown. The university said a timeline for his return to football activities is not yet known.
