Nebraska announces Football Hall of Fame Inductees
LINCOLN, Neb. —
Husker Athletics announced the former football players who will be inducted into the 2026 Nebraska Football Hall of Fame.
The inductees, who were announced Tuesday, include defensive back Charles Fryar (1980s), offensive lineman Jim Scott (1990s), fullback Cory Schlesinger (1990s), I-back Cory Ross (2000s) and linebacker Lavonte David (2010s). Former punter Sam Foltz (2010s) will also be honored with a posthumous award.

The program will also present the Hall of Fame Legend Award to former Nebraska head coach Frank Solich. Current men’s basketball radio announcer Kent Pavelka will be recognized with the Lyle Bremser Special Merit Award. Plus, former Chadron State tight end Joe Planansky will be in attendance as this year’s state college representative.
2026 inductees
Charles Fryar, defensive back, 1984-88: Two-time All-Big Eight selection. Helped Nebraska achieve a top 10 national rank in total and pass defense as a senior.
Jim Scott, offensive lineman, 1989-92: All-Big Eight center who helped the Huskers win back-to-back conference titles. Started at center on a 1992 team that averaged 328 rushing yards per game.
Cory Schlesinger, fullback, 1990-1994: Rushed for 456 yards in his senior season at Nebraska. Ended his career in Lincoln with more than 700 rushing yards. Scored two touchdowns against Miami in the 1995 Orange Bowl.
Cory Ross, I-back, 2001-05: Ranks in the top 15 in school history in rushing yards, with 2,743. As a junior, Ross eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark with 1,102 rushing yards. And as a senior, he rushed for 729 yards and caught 43 passes.
Lavonte David, linebacker, 2010-11: First-team All-Big 12 selection and second-team All-American as a junior. In his final season, David was a first-team All-American and the Big Ten Linebacker of the Year.
Sam Foltz, punter, 2012-16: One of the top starting punters in Nebraska’s history. Earned Big Ten Punter of the Year honors and was a first-team all-conference selection as a junior with greater than 44 yards per punt.
Joe Planansky, Chadron State, tight end, 1991-94: Was a four-year starter at Chadron State. Earned second-team All-American honors as a junior and first-team honors as a senior. First Snow Bowl player selected to play in Fargo, North Dakota.
Frank Solich, head coach, 1997-03: All-conference fullback for Nebraska in the 1960s. Big 12 conference coach of the year who guided the Cornhuskers to 58 wins in six seasons.
Kent Pavelka, radio play-by-play broadcaster, 1984-1995: Worked with Lyle Bremser in 1974 as a color commentator. Called two of Nebraska football’s national championships in 1994 and 1995. Serves as the voice of Husker men’s basketball since 2006.
