LINCOLN — The Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police has endorsed Nebraska U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts in his race against registered nonpartisan candidate Dan Osborn.
The Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police, the largest law enforcement union in the state, typically endorses Republican candidates. It endorsed Ricketts in 2024 against Preston Love Jr. The union president, Anthony Conner, said in a statement earlier this month that Ricketts “has always stood with law enforcement, not just when it’s easy, but when it matters most.”
“As Governor and in the Senate, he has backed the policies and resources that keep officers safe and our communities secure,” Conner said. “Nebraska’s law enforcement officers know they can count on Pete Ricketts, and we’re proud to support his re-election.”

Ricketts is facing the toughest general election matchup of his career against Osborn, who has become a national name after his closer-than-expected bid against U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer, R-Neb, in 2024. The former governor brought Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz to Lincoln to emphasize the seriousness of the Nebraska race.

Osborn has received endorsements from the American Federation of Government Employees, End Citizens United, the Nebraska AFL-CIO, and the state’s largest teachers union.
It’s widely believed that Nebraska Democratic U.S. Senate nominee Cindy Burbank will drop out of the race to give Osborn a clearer shot against Ricketts, as her campaign website states that she planned to drop out if she won the party’s nomination during her primary campaign.
The general election is Nov 3.
