During Wednesday’s ceremony, state leaders also recognized York student Quinn Robinson, whose poem about what America means to her placed second in a nationwide contest.
“We remember the ocean vast, but their faith deeper. We remember the deep trust they had in God, their keeper. We remember the winter fierce, but their hope stronger,” Robinson said.
The ceremony also highlighted a new patriotic exhibit at the Nebraska State Museum. The organization also encouraged families to take part in events commemorating the nation’s 250th anniversary throughout the year.
