Nebraska State Sen. Margo Juarez announces breast cancer diagnosis

OMAHA, Neb. —

Nebraska State Sen. Margo Juarez said in a post Monday that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

Juarez, who represents Legislative District 5, says she is optimistic about her treatment plan and will continue serving in the legislature.

In a message to constituents, Juarez wrote, “I am approaching this journey with faith, determination, and gratitude for the outstanding care I am receiving.”

She also said that treatment may require some schedule adjustments, but she remains committed to her duties within her district.

“I would sincerely appreciate your thoughts and prayers as I begin treatment. My family and I are hopeful, and we are taking this one step at a time with confidence and optimism,” Juarez said in her social media post. “I look forward to continuing to serve you and to sharing positive updates along the way.”

Gov. Jim Pillen released the following statement to social media on Monday afternoon:

“Suzanne and I are keeping Senator Juarez in our thoughts and prayers as she faces her breast cancer diagnosis. We are grateful she is surrounded by an excellent medical team, and we join all Nebraskans in wishing her strength, comfort, and a full recovery.”
