Nebraska senator, congressman Brad Ashford gets street name after him

OMAHA, Neb. —

Omaha will honor former Nebraska senator, congressman and longtime community leader Brad Ashford by naming part of a street after him.

“I have this on my wall in my office. It’s when Brad died, and it’s right in front of my desk on the wall. It says, ‘Be like Brad.’ And those of you that knew Brad, sometimes he would drive you crazy in a good way. But his heart was always in the right place. And I look at that sticker on my wall in my office and think of the public service and what that meant to him for decades of service with his family. And that meant a lot to me,” said Omaha City Council President Dan Begley.

Woolworth Avenue from the Field Club Trail to South 42nd Street will now be known as Brad Ashford Street.

The Omaha City Council approved that resolution unanimously Tuesday.
