Nebraska State Patrol arrests Omaha man for allegedly making threats against Nebraska school, Pillen’s family
OMAHA, Neb. —
An Omaha man was arrested for allegedly making threats against a Nebraska school and Gov. Jim Pillen’s family.
The Nebraska State Patrol was made aware of a threatening message that was received through Columbus Catholic Schools’ website on June 29.

According to NSP, the message was a threat of violence to the school and the governor’s family.
Troopers immediately began investigating the threat, and that investigation led them to an Omaha apartment building near 45th Street and Bedford Avenue.
Troopers tried to make contact, but the man would not follow commands. He “ran to the apartment and barricaded himself inside.”
After almost two hours, the man, identified as Ean Halstead, 32, exited the residence.
He was arrested for obstructing a police officer and failure to obey a lawful order following the barricade incident.
According to a news release from NSP, investigators confiscated multiple electronics from the residence, and troopers said they found evidence linking Halstead to the threat.
On Friday, an arrest warrant was issued for Halstead for terroristic threats and destruction of evidence, and NSP arrested him without incident at his residence.
“We are extremely grateful to the dedicated investigators of the Nebraska State Patrol and allied law enforcement agencies for their quick and thorough work to track down this individual and ensure the security of the First Family. We have zero tolerance for political violence here in Nebraska, including threats to carry it out. If you threaten violence against a public official or their family in this state, you will be found and held accountable. The heated political rhetoric that too often leads to radicalization and violence must cool off,” said Gov. Pillen’s chief of staff, Dave Lopez.
NSP said the investigation is still ongoing.
