North Carolina woman vacationing in Grenada missing for days
A North Carolina woman vacationing in Grenada has been missing for days.
Elizabeth Waddell, 44, known as Liz, was last seen going for a swim not far from the Airbnb where she and a close friend were staying on Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s, the nation’s capital.

That friend was the last person to see Waddell.
“Her friend was taking her online course, and when she got through with her course, she looked up and she didn’t see Liz outside, so she went outside to just kind of walk around and see where she could see maybe where she went, and she saw her towel down on the pier,” Amanda Romano-Harmon, another friend of Waddell’s, said.
Romano-Harmon said she has known Waddell and her husband, Cailen, for 25 years. Their husbands were college roommates, and the two couples have been close for years.
Waddell went missing around noon on Wednesday, July 22. Not long after, her husband received the call back in Cary, North Carolina.
“She was just kind of starting to panic because she knew Liz didn’t have her phone or anything with her, and so they wound up filing a missing persons report right away.”

Romano-Harmon says Waddell is a frequent traveler.
“Liz has the adventure bug. She loves to travel, and there’s, there’s not a hike she didn’t like that she wanted to try.”
Her loved ones are looking for help finding her.
“No detail is too small,” Romano-Harmon said. “If you know anything at all that could lead us to her whereabouts, know where she is, please, please contact the officials on the poster.”
A spokesperson said the State Department is aware of reports that Waddell is missing in Grenada, NBC news reported.
Waddell’s family also wanted to share that the photo provided by Grenada authorities is not accurate. Liz Waddell is 5 feet tall with blonde hair, unlike a photo of her with pink hair that circulated.
