The Class A semifinals of the NSAA State Soccer tournament were on Friday in Omaha.There was a major upset on the girls’ side of things when Elkhorn South and Lincoln Southwest met at Morrison Stadium.Things were scoreless into the second half until Elkhorn South’s keeper Kenzie Thompson’s goal kick brought Southwest’s keeper out of the box. Then Ellie Sonderman for the Storm knocked it in to put Elkhorn South on the board.Southwest had the chance to tie things up when Ansley Throner, who had recorded 59 goals this season, launched it, but Thompson came through with a huge save.Elkhorn South knocked off the two-time defending Class A champs 1-0.Also on Friday, Marian and Kearney faced off in Omaha. The Crusaders were trailing 1-0 midway through the first half when Cooper Dally from the corner to Mya Sennett, who headed it in to tie things up.Things stayed that way until over a minute left in the match. Dally knocked it it, and Marian defeated Kearney 2-1.The Class A girls’ final will be Elkhorn South vs. Marian on Monday.In Class A boys, Lincoln Southwest defeated Papio South 5-4.
