Officials identify Colorado man killed in plane crash in Iowa
LAWTON, Iowa —
Officials have identified a pilot killed in a plane crash in Iowa.
The plane crashed Saturday near Lawton, killing the pilot, who was identified as 64-year-old Dennis Elkins of Erie, Colorado.

Authorities said Elkins was flying home in a homemade aircraft from the 2026 EAA AirVenture event in Wisconsin.
Shortly after his family reported him missing, searchers found the plane on Saturday in a body of water.
The Woodbury County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the crash.
