Omaha Broadway Bar is a traveling troupe of singers bringing live performances of Broadway hits to venues across the metro, creating unique musical experiences for audiences.Curtis Reynolds, founder of Omaha Broadway Bar, said the group has performed at several venues and continues to expand. “We’ve been in 15-plus different venues, and we’re adding more venues as we continue on,” Reynolds said. One of their latest pop-up spots is North Omaha Music and Arts. Reynolds highlighted the variety of experiences the group offers, which caters to different preferences. “I think that is a strength of ours right now as we travel to so many different venues, and all of those venues have a very different feel,” Reynolds said. “If someone’s not into the more high-energy shows at The Max, they could come to something here at NOMA or the Bohemian Gardens or the Durham Museum, where we will be this summer.” Mackenzie Zielke, a music and theater educator, has been with Omaha Broadway Bar since its inception in September 2024. Zielke said seeing new performers take the stage is inspiring. “There’s so much talent in this town that you go to a show and you’re like, ‘Oh, I love that person. And so great to see them perform.’ And then, there’ll be five more people. They get up, and you’re like, ‘Who are you? I’ve never seen you before. Where can I see more of you?'” Zielke said. Reynolds said the supportive atmosphere among performers adds another layer to the theatrical experience. “And there’s still also this sense of, like, being very supportive in the room, which I think is another layer of, like, the theatrical experience where there’s, like, this built-in competition,” Reynolds said. The performances often include jazz numbers and sing-alongs, allowing performers to showcase material they might not otherwise get to perform. “We do a lot of jazz, so like ‘All That Jazz,’ you also have like the classic sing-alongs as well,” Reynolds said. “Our performers, they get to perform material that they wouldn’t get to sing otherwise. You know, a dream role, a miscast situation or a gender-bend type of song.” Zielke said Omaha Broadway Bar consistently brings something fresh to the stage. “If you’re not at Broadway Bar, you’re kind of missing out. You’re missing the next big thing,” Zielke said.Learn more about Omaha Broadway Bar by clicking here.
