Three Omaha city councilmembers propose property tax levy reduction
OMAHA, Neb. —
Three Omaha city councilmembers are proposing an amendment that would lower the property tax levy.
Aimee Melton, Brinker Harding and Don Rowe want a reduction of three-quarters of a cent.

Right now, the levy sits at just over 44 cents per $100 of property value.
The councilmembers propose making up for the $4.4 million reduction in revenue by increasing the estimated sales tax revenue.
Melton said the city could reduce spending during the year if the estimate is short.
It would take five votes — a supermajority — to pass Tuesday.
