Los Diablos will be allowed to reopen if it fixes ‘significant’ issues, Omaha planning director says

OMAHA, Neb. —

The Los Diablos Motorcycle Club near 25th and Ames in North Omaha was shut down by city inspectors due to “significant” safety code violations on Wednesday, but officials say it can reopen once the issues are addressed.

Omaha City Planning Director Dave Fanslau said the closure was due to “pretty significant life safety issues” found Wednesday after police contacted his department about potential code violations.

Police said the Wednesday Los Diablos has “also been the subject of numerous incidents and complaints from the community.”

He said that the concerns were not structural and the building does not need to be demolished.

“There seem to be a lot of extension cords, drapes over things, and just the electrical was not up to standard,” Fanslau said.

He said there were a few other issues, but the primary concerns were electrical.

Fanslau said the club will be allowed to reopen once the safety issues are corrected and a follow-up inspection clears the issues.

Police said Wednesday they were at the club to serve a search warrant in connection with a nearby shooting that occurred Saturday.

The club has a history with the city. In 2024, the city adopted a “disorderly premises” ordinance, under which Danny Robinson, the national president of the Los Diablos Motorcycle Club, was charged. However, a judge ruled the ordinance overly broad and unconstitutional late last year.

Earlier this month, the city’s appeal of that decision was rejected. Omaha City Attorney Matt Kuhse told KETV Thursday the city plans to appeal.

Robinson nearly spoke with KETV on Thursday, but said his attorney advised him to hold off for now. However, Robinson said he could say he offered police access to the club’s cameras, which they declined, and provided his contact information before the closure.

In a phone interview in May, Robinson addressed criticism over several shootings and incidents near the club.

“There’s no way me, as a human being, would even fathom the thought of keeping a business open and causing people to be killed or hurt,” Robinson said in the May interview. “If I thought we were the problem, I’d close it down yesterday.”
