Executive Director of Families Over Billionaires, Kristen Crowell, says there are 77,000 people in Nebraska who have lost food assistance. Crowell says they’re primarily children, veterans and seniors.
Nebraska For Us is hoping to ease the burden that those people are feeling. The organization gave out free meals to over 100 people during Sunday’s event, and provided for future meals, too. They presented the Food Bank for the Heartland with a $10,000 donation to help them continue their work feeding families.
“We know that the work that they do within our community is vital, especially to our local food pantries throughout the community that really serve boots on the ground,” said Angie Lauritsen, State Director of Nebraska For Us.
Omaha is the fifteenth stop on the nationwide tour for Families Over Billionaires that kicked off June 30th in Portland, Maine. The bus will make 17 stops in 13 states before concluding on July 16th in Tucson, Arizona.
