Memorial Park in Omaha hosts a Memorial Day event, with actors portraying local lives lost, free pancakes, and a ceremony to honor military sacrifices.

WE ARE EXPECTING THOUSANDS TO GATHER HERE AT MEMORIAL PARK TO HONOR THOSE WHO HAVE SERVED FOR US. AND I’M JOINED WITH BILL WILLIAMS. HE IS THE FOUNDER OF PATRIOTIC PRODUCTIONS. WELL, AGAINST DODGE STREET IS OUR NATIONAL REMEMBERING OUR FALLEN MEMORIAL. AND IT WAS UNVEILED AT THE LINCOLN MEMORIAL IN 2017. IT’S 35 TOWERS CONTAINING PHOTOS OF 5500 OF THE FALLEN SINCE SEPTEMBER 11TH. WE HAVE SEPARATE TOWERS FOR SUICIDE AND TRAINING ACCIDENTS. IT’S THE ONLY MEMORIAL LIKE IT IN THE COUNTRY. WE HAVE TWO SETS. THE OTHER SET RIGHT NOW IS IN FLORIDA. THIS IS THE FINAL TOUR AT THE END OF THIS YEAR. FOR THESE MEMORIALS. AND SO WE’RE HOPING THAT FOLKS WILL COME DOWN AND TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND AT IT AND AND HONOR THE FALLEN. THAT’S WHAT WE HOPE. AND THEN WE SEE ALL OF THESE FLAGS HERE BEHIND US. TELL US MORE ABOUT THOSE. WELL, WE CREATED THAT LAST YEAR WHEN WE STARTED TAKING OVER THE CEREMONY HERE AT MEMORIAL PARK. IT’S IT’S 1300 SMALL FLAGS REPRESENTING 1.3 MILLION AMERICANS WHO HAVE DIED IN ALL AMERICAN WARS. SO IT’S CALLED FLANDERS FIELD OF FLAGS. AND THEN BEHIND THAT IS OUR VIETNAM P.O.W. TIGER CAGE THAT WAS GIVEN TO US BY THE LATE K SLOVAK, WHOSE HUSBAND WAS SHOT DOWN OVER NORTH VIETNAM AND DIED IN CAPTIVITY. AND THEN WE HAVE A HALF SIZE VERSION OF THE TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN. AND ARRIVING SOON WILL BE OUR 22 FOOT TALL PURPLE HEART INFLATABLE. SO BE A LOT OF THINGS FOR PEOPLE TO SEE HERE TODAY. CEREMONIES AT TEN, SKYDIVERS AT A 9:45.
