The Omaha National Cemetery honored five veterans Tuesday with military honors. The Unaccompanied Veteran Memorial Service recognizes veterans who were laid to rest over the past year who had no family or friends able to attend their service. The Department of Nebraska Marine Corps League and detachments from Omaha, Gretna and Lincoln honored the veterans. “Every veteran that has an honorable discharge has the right to have a military honors funeral,” said Charles Chambers, Commander of the Marine Corps League. The ceremony featured the folding of the flag, play of TAPS, and a rifle volley.
