Omaha police name Sherie Thomas as their new executive deputy chief
OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha police celebrated several promotions on Friday.
This included Sherie Thomas, who is now executive deputy chief.

“As the chief said, I will be the acting chief when he’s gone. The official number two of the department. I’ve been prepared in my entire career for this moment. I believe education helps me be knowledgeable about not just leadership but just policing issues. And I just look forward to serving in this role,” said Thomas.
Thomas succeeds Executive Chief Deputy Scott Gray, who recently retired.
Thomas has been with the department for nearly 28 years.
