Omaha hosts 50th anniversary of International Wheelchair Softball World Series Tournament
OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha is hosting the International Wheelchair Softball World Series on Thursday, and the Nebraska Barons have a pretty special connection to Madonna rehabilitation hospitals.
The 13-time World Series champions include several former Madonna patients.

This is the 50th anniversary of the Wheelchair Softball World Series, in which 17 teams from across the country compete for the championship.
“I would tell people if they have any form of disability or know anyone or just want to be exposed to athletes that are doing something different. It’s just come out, check us out, check out the matches and the games and we have fun just as well as anybody else does,” Brent Rasmussen, Nebraska Adaptive Sports president, said.
The games are played at the First Interstate Sports Complex in Valley.
