Friday Strong Storm Potential

As of Friday morning, the Storm Prediction Center’s severe weather outlook has most of eastern Nebraska and western Iowa in a slight risk for severe activity mainly in the evening and overnight hours. Within that zone, better chances for stronger storms favor near and south of Interstate 80.

Expect a drier late morning and afternoon with storm chances increasing after 8 p.m. as a cold front approaches. Large hail and 60-plus mile per hour wind gusts would be the main threats with any stronger storms, but also can’t rule out a brief tornado. Heavy rain and flash flooding is also a concern in areas that picked up significant rainfall Thursday.
