Omaha’s Crossroads development on track, city, developer say; More details coming at end of month

OMAHA, Neb. —

The Crossroads development in Omaha is progressing, the city and the lead developer say.

Current work at the site is on parking for the previously announced “Gamescape by Cinemark” project, which is expected to open in early 2028.

Marco Floreani, senior deputy director of economic development for the City of Omaha, acknowledged public concerns about the pace of progress.

Floreani said the city holds weekly meetings with Woodbury, the lead developer for the Crossroads project.

“We’ve been redesigning some of the blocks, just some small tweaks,” he said.

He said Woodbury has received several letters of intent from retailers.

“If you get one retailer, many others will follow,” Floreani said.

Floreani said it’s enough that there’s an “opportunity” to build more vertically in the “Central Green” at the heart of the development.

Josh Berger, Woodbury’s director of development, described the project as creating a “city within a city” that will include housing, office space, and other uses. Berger said Woodbury is “thrilled” with Omaha’s plan to provide office space for the joint police and fire headquarters at the site.

The city and Woodbury plan to share more details about the development at a town hall meeting scheduled for the last week of August.
