OMAHA, Neb. —

Mayor John Ewing Jr. announced June’s Year of the Neighbor focus Tuesday at the mayor’s media room in downtown Omaha. He said the city should stay welcoming as the College World Series and youth baseball tournaments bring thousands of visitors.

Ewing said Omaha is “one Omaha” and encouraged residents to greet guests around the city. Visit Omaha’s Jasmine Goodwin said 801 youth teams are coming to the metro, a record for Triple Crown Blockbusters.

Goodwin said about 25,000 visitors from about 36 states will be in Omaha for the games. She said the city will hand out maps and visitor guides to help people get around.

Goodwin said tourism helps support local businesses, jobs and city improvements.

She said Omaha’s goal is simple: make visitors feel welcome while they are in town for the College World Series.
