OPPD investigating after thousands without power across Omaha metro
The Omaha Public Power District said more than 3,000 people lost power on Monday evening across the Omaha metro area.

The Omaha Public Power District said more than 3,000 people lost power on Monday evening across the Omaha metro area.
The first power outage happened just before 5:45 p.m. in the Papillion area, according to OPPD. A spokesperson told KETV that there was some sort of problem at the substation serving customers in downtown Papillion. A crew has since been called in to make repairs.

OPPD said the areas that are affected are:
- 1st Street to Schram Road, between Grand View Avenue and 90th Street
- Clear Creek Street to Highway 370, between 39th Street and Grand View Avenue
“While a cause has not yet been determined, our crews are beginning the process of switching customers over to another power source to get them back online while the problem is determined and repaired,” said Jodi Baker with OPPD.
Crews are hoping to have power restored to those Papillion customers by 10 p.m., according to OPPD.
The second power outage happened just after 7 p.m. in downtown Omaha. This one affected the area between Davenport Street and Leavenworth Street, from the Riverfront to 12th Street, according to OPPD.
OPPD estimated more than 400 people were without power for this particular outage. Crews say the outage was caused by a bad switch and cable. All power was restored in downtown Omaha by 9 p.m., according to OPPD.
