LOCAL BOXERS PUT ON THEIR GLOVES FOR A BOXING SHOWDOWN IN SOUTH OMAHA TODAY. BUT THE SHOWDOWN WASN’T JUST FOR BRAGGING RIGHTS. VICTORY BOXING HOSTED THE CINCO DE MAYO BOXING SHOWDOWN. ORGANIZERS SAY THE EVENT WAS AN EFFORT TO RAISE MONEY FOR AN EXPANSION TO THE GYM, INCLUDING A NEW BALCONY, WHICH VICTORY BOX OWNER SAYS IS NEEDED. THIS YEAR, WE ACTUALLY OUTGROWN OUR BUILDING. And so we’re trying to raise an additional $20,000 so we can build a new balcony over on the west side and so we can accommodate more people, obviously, because now you can barely walk down there,” said founder Rev.
