BREAKING NEWS. 17 AMERICANS EXPOSED TO THE HANTAVIRUS ON A CRUISE SHIP. THEY ARE NOW IN OMAHA AT NEBRASKA MEDICAL CENTER, AND WE WERE THERE AS BUSSES TOOK THEM FROM EPPLEY TO CAMPUS. THE PLANE THAT CARRIED THEM LANDED AT EPPLEY OVERNIGHT AROUND 230 IN THE MORNING. WE KNOW ONE PASSENGER HAS TESTED POSITIVE FOR HANTAVIRUS. ANOTHER PERSON IS SHOWING SYMPTOMS. KETV NEWSWATCH SEVEN’S WAVERLE MONROE HAS BEEN LIVE AT NEBRASKA MEDICAL CENTER ALL MORNING LONG. WAVERLE WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN? MELISSA. THAT CONVOY CAME IN QUICK. I THINK ALL OF OUR VIDEO OF IT IS ABOUT THREE MINUTES LONG. SO WHAT WE SAW IS THEY WERE COMING WESTBOUND ON LEAVENWORTH KIND OF DOWN THAT HILL. THREE BUSSES TURNED ON 41ST STREET INTO AND THEN DROVE INTO THE GARAGE RIGHT OVER THERE AT THE DAVIS GLOBAL CENTER. WE DID GET VIDEO OF AN AMBULANCE THEN DRIVING A BLOCK WEST DOWN TO 42ND STREET, DRIVING WHAT APPEARED TO BE UP TO THE MAIN CAMPUS. I WAS ABLE TO LOOK INSIDE AS THAT VEHICLE DROVE BY, WAS BEING LED BY UNIVERSITY POLICE AND OMAHA FIRE BATTALION CHIEF VEHICLE. YOU CAN SEE THAT THERE WAS WHAT APPEARED TO BE A PERSON IN A FULL HAZMAT SUIT, KIND OF BRACING THEMSELVES, OR MAYBE POSSIBLY LEANING OVER THAT PATIENT THAT WE CONFIRMED WAS GOING TO THE NEBRASKA BIOCONTAINMENT UNIT. THAT PERSON TESTED POSITIVE FOR HANTAVIRUS, THOUGH NOT SHOWING ANY SYMPTOMS. AP THEN WAS ABLE TO CONFIRM OVERNIGHT THAT AN ADDITIONAL PERSON HAS SYMPTOMS BUT HAD NOT TESTED POSITIVE. AT THIS POINT, THOUGH, IT’S UNCLEAR IF THAT PERSON WAS ALSO TAKEN TO THE BIOCONTAINMENT UNIT OR THE OR WERE THEY TAKEN TO THE NATIONAL QUARANTINE UNIT? AGAIN, BACK TO THOSE 17 PASSENGERS. THEY WERE MONITORED SEPARATELY AS THEY FLOW INTO THE CARGO AREA OF EPPLEY AIRFIELD ON A CARGO PLANE, AND THEN THEY ARE GOING TO BE MONITORED AT THE NATIONAL QUARANTINE UNIT. SO TWO SEPARATE UNITS THAT PEOPLE WERE KIND OF SPLIT UP AND TAKEN TO. WE KNOW THAT THE PLANE THAT THEY CAME IN ON IS AN AMERICAN CARGO PLANE. IT’S AN AIRLINE HERE IN THE STATES. AND AGAIN, WE ARE GOING TO BE FOLLOWING THIS AS IT DEVELOPS. BUT AS WE KNOW, NEBRASKA, WE’RE NOT NEW TO THIS. BACK IN 2020, WE HAD THOSE CORONAVIRUS PATIENTS THAT CAME INTO THE NATIONAL QUARANTINE UNIT HERE AT THE DAVIS CENTER. AND THEN ALSO BACK IN 2014, THAT EBOLA PATIENT FROM WEST AFRICA ALSO CAME TO THE QUARANTINE UNIT. SO COMING UP AT 9 A.M., WE’RE GOING TO HAVE A LIVE PRESS CONFERENCE. WE’RE GOING TO STREAM HERE SO YOU CAN WATCH IT WITH US AS WE LEARN ABOUT ALL OF THIS FROM OUR FEDERAL, STA
