The “Platte River Art Show” is returning to Mahoney State Park. The annual event will be held Friday, April 24, through Sunday, April 26, at Peter Kiewit Lodge.An organizer and artist joined KETV in the studio to preview this year’s show and share what visitors can expect.Organizer Nia Karmann said the show will feature 16 artists, including one student artist. The lineup includes artists from Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas.Karmann said five participants are new to the show, including student artist Makayla Rector, a senior at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs.The show will feature paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry, woodwork, mixed media, pottery and more.Karmann has participated in the show as an artist since 2010 and is in her fourth year as promoter and organizer. The “Platte River Art Show” has been held since 1999.A wine and cheese reception will open the weekend from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
