Popular 2000s rock band’s tour bus involved in deadly South Carolina crash

A popular 2000s rock band’s tour bus was involved in a deadly crash in South Carolina on Friday morning.

Buckcherry, which formed in 1995, surged into the mainstream with the release of its 2006 album “15.” The band released a social media statement on Saturday announcing that all band members and touring crew were uninjured in the crash.

“We are extremely grateful to report that all members of Buckcherry and our touring crew are safe and unharmed, the statement said. “Tragically, authorities have confirmed that the collision that occurred ahead of our bus resulted in a fatality. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the family and loved ones of the person who lost their life.”

The crash happened at approximately 2 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 21, on Interstate 26, according to the South Carolina Department of Transportation. The crash prompted officials to shut down all eastbound lanes for several hours.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a pedestrian had previously been involved in a crash in the area. When the driver exited the car, they were hit in the roadway.

Troopers say the pedestrian died at the scene.

The band said its scheduled performance at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was expected to go on as planned on Saturday.

No other details regarding the crash have been provided at this time.

Buckcherry is on the final leg of its Roar Like Thunder tour, which was announced in April. The tour comes after the release of its 2025 Roar Like Thunder album, the band’s 11th studio release.

The band consists of five members: Josh Todd, Stevie Dacanay, Billy Rowe, Kelly LeMieux, and Francis Ruiz.
