A Pennsylvania mother is facing murder charges after her three children died in an apartment fire, according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. Investigators said Danozjna Shalita Marjie Williams was arrested in connection with a deadly fire that broke out at her apartment in March. Williams’ three children, who were left unsupervised inside the apartment at the time, were killed, according to police. Officials said the children were ages 5, 3 and 5 months old. According to investigators, Williams left the home to facilitate a drug transaction and was gone for approximately 50 minutes. Officials said firefighters faced obstacles entering the apartment, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined. Williams has been charged with third-degree murder, endangering the welfare of children, aggravated assault and recklessly endangering another person. Police said Williams was denied bail. “This is a heartbreaking, but completely preventable tragedy,” said Erie County District Attorney Elizabeth Hirz. “The evidence shows these young children were left without supervision in a situation where they needed their mother to protect them and keep them safe. That duty was abandoned, with devastating consequences.”
