Prosecutors drop charges against man arrested in Omaha after Amber Alert issued

OMAHA, Neb. —

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Tuesday that the felony charge against a 51-year-old man was dropped.

Garry McBreen was arrested Sunday in Omaha, the same day an Amber Alert was issued for an 8-year-old.

The hearing was held Tuesday in Douglas County Court in Omaha.

Sheriff Neil Gross said in light of new information, Shelby County will no longer be pursuing charges.

McBreen was scheduled to face a Douglas County judge on Tuesday morning, but he has been released from custody.
