Teenager remembered at 2026 RAGBRAI after dying of brain cancer
ONAWA, Iowa —
An Iowa family honored their son’s memory during this year’s RAGBRAI ride.
Daniel Griffin died of brain cancer last year at 17 years old.

He rode on RAGBRAI with his mom, Torie, while battling the disease in 2021. That ride included a special escort into Clinton and a meeting with the mayor.
His mom said those memories are why she keeps coming back.
“All of Iowa showed up for my son battling brain cancer; he got a hero’s welcome in every town we came into. Iowa will always have my heart,” Torie Griffin said.
