Regents approve naming of new University of Nebraska at Omaha athletic facility after former regent
OMAHA, Neb. —
The Nebraska Board of Regents approved the new name for UNO’s new athletic facility near Baxter Arena.
It will be called the Howard L. Hawks Training Center in honor of the former regent who died in 2024.

The 75,000-square-foot facility will feature two practice courts, locker rooms and lounges as multiple teams will utilize the space.
Crews broke ground on the $55 million project back in June.
It should be finished by 2028.
Construction begins Monday for UNO’s new baseball and softball clubhouse
UNO will also break ground on its new baseball and softball clubhouse this upcoming Monday.
It will be two stories and overlook Connie Claussen and Tal Anderson fields.
Construction should wrap up in July 2027.
