The Sarpy County Board of Commissioners approved raising fees Tuesday night for housing youth at its Juvenile Justice Center. The board approved increasing the fee to $300 per juvenile per day. Sarpy County contracts with seven counties: Cass, Dodge, Hall, Nemaha, Otoe, Saline and Scotts Bluff. But the Juvenile Justice Center director says youth are sent to Sarpy County from all over the state. “Just economy-wise, supplies are going up, food’s going up, so it was natural for us to increase our daily rate,” said Tami Steensma. The last rate hike was in 2021.
