A Secret Service officer was arrested early Monday at the DoubleTree Hotel near Miami International Airport for alleged indecent exposure and threatening behavior toward hotel guests, according to authorities. John Andrew Spillman, 33, was accused of dropping his pants, pleasuring himself, and menacingly following hotel guests to the point that they retreated to their room for safety, according to an arrest form obtained by Seven News. A woman told deputies that she and others “immediately entered their room because she was in fear for their lives,” the report stated. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office report explained that the victims were in the hotel lobby when Spillman allegedly followed them. They later “saw the defendant masturbating next to their hotel room.” Hotel security was called and found Spillman “with his pants lowered and masturbating on the 6th floor,” the report said. Seven News reached out to the Secret Service about Spillman, who is from Marble Falls, Texas, and is based in Washington, D.C. The agency confirmed he was in South Florida working a security perimeter screening detail at Trump Doral during the president’s visit for the 2026 Cadillac Championship golf tournament. The chief of the Secret Service released a statement, saying, “The alleged conduct is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the professionalism and integrity that I demand of our personnel.” Spillman’s South Florida assignment concluded Sunday, and he was off duty at the time of his arrest. He appeared in bond court Monday, where no mention was made of his role with the Secret Service. “Your bond is set at a thousand dollars,” the judge said.
