Thunderstorms could impact Nebraska softball’s NCAA Regional game on Friday
GIVE IT A FOUR. UNPLEASANT FOR BEING AND WORKING OUTSIDE, DODGING RAIN DROPS AND MAYBE EVEN STRONGER SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS. THIS IS LIVE SUPER DOPPLER SEVEN RADAR. THE OMAHA METRO IS ONLY LIVE SUPER DOPPLER SEVEN RADAR. THE ONLY LIVE RADAR IN THE METRO. THE OTHER TV STATIONS DON’T HAVE. THEY RELY ON THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE’S RADAR, WHICH WE USE TOO. BUT IT’S ALWAYS GREAT TO HAVE A SECOND SOURCE LIKE WE DO HERE. THIS COMPUTER MODEL SAYS 6:00 JUST WEST OF SAUNDERS COUNTY. 7:00 CLOSING IN THE METRO. 8:00 IN THE METRO. 9:00 PROGRESSING INTO WESTERN IOWA. 10:00 ENDING IN THE METRO. THE BIGGER STORMS OVER TO CENTRAL IOWA, AROUND DES MOINES. AND THIS IS ANOTHER COMPUTER MODEL WE USE. IF YOU’RE NOT A FAN OF STORMS, IF YOU DON’T WANT HAIL IN THE OMAHA METRO, YOU LIKE THIS ONE. THIS IS OUR IN-HOUSE MODEL CALLED THE GRAPH. IT’S GOT STORMS AROUND BEATRICE OTHER STORMS UP AROUND CARROLL, IOWA, BUT DOESN’T DO MUCH IN THE METRO. NOW, ME PERSONALLY, I WANT SOME RAIN. SUPER DRY, BUT THIS MISSES THE METRO FOR THE MOST PART WITH RAIN. 9:00 AND THERE’S MIDNIGHT. EVERYTHING IS DONE. SO TWO COMPUTER MODELS, SAME INITIAL INFORMATION, TWO VERY DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS. IT SEEMS LIKE THIS IS PROBABLY THE AREA MOST LIKELY TO SEE WIND POTENTIAL STORMS TO DEVELOP NEAR OMAHA, ORGANIZE INTO A LINE AND PUSH EAST. THAT’S WHERE YOU’LL HAVE STRONGER WINDS. THAT’S FOR THIS EVENING AND TONIGHT. THIS IS THE SEVERE OUTLOOK FOR TOMORROW. AREA WIDE SLIGHT RISK. MAINLY WE’RE TALKING ABOUT TOMORROW EVENING PERHAPS AROUND DARK AND THEN INTO TOMORROW NIGHT. MOST OF SATURDAY IS GOING TO BE DRY. HOT ONE TODAY 92 FOR THE HIGH 94. IS THE RECORD. NOT QUITE THERE YET AND NO RAIN. WE NEED MOISTURE. SEE THIS MID AND HIGH LEVEL CLOUD? THERE ARE SOME ALTO CUMULUS CLOUDS IN THAT DECK. AND THAT SAYS THERE’S SOME MID LEVEL INSTABILITY WHICH MAY GIVE RISE TO THUNDERSTORMS. 92 IN OMAHA, 92 IN FREMONT, 95. LINCOLN. NOT SUPER WINDY, BUT THERE IS A SOUTH BREEZE THERE. HERE’S DEUEL POLL AGAIN. THESE ALTO CUMULUS CLOUDS SHOW UP LIKE THIS WITH THE SPRINKLES IN THE CLOUDS. WE THINK THOSE ARE GOING TO KEEP COMING NORTHEASTWARD. AND THEN, YOU KNOW MAYBE THEY’LL BREAK OUT INTO THUNDERSTORMS RIGHT OVER THE OMAHA METRO. THAT’S KIND OF ALONG THE STALLED BOUNDARY. THERE’S OUR COMPUTER MODEL QUICKLY OFF TO THE EAST. SO THIS DOESN’T LOOK LIKE AN OVERNIGHT DEAL TONIGHT. TOMORROW, MOST OF THE DAY IS DRY. BUT SEE THESE STORMS NORTH OF US AND ALSO WEST OF US. THAT’S OUR ACTIVITY TOMORROW EVENING. AND THEN OVERNIGHT TOMORROW NIGHT. SO A THREAT OF LONG LASTING THUNDERSTORMS MAY BE SEVERE WEATHER POTENTIAL. THEN SUNDAY, THIS FRONT COMING IN FROM THE WEST ALSO BRINGS THE THREAT OF STRONGER SEVERE STORMS. BUT AFTER 5:00 INTO THE EVENING HOURS RIGHT THERE TONIGHT, 59 FOR LOW SCATTERED STORMS AROUND THIS EVENING. BUT THEY MOVE OUT AND THEN PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES TOMORROW, MOSTLY SUNNY IN THE MORNING. MORE CLOUDS, MID DAY, WARM AND HUMID IN THE AFTERNOON. GENERALLY DRY THROUGH THE DAY. IF YOU’VE GOT TO GET SOMETHING DONE OUTSIDE, IT’S TOMORROW EVENING OVERNIGHT SUNDAY EVENING AND NIGHT, AND THEN MONDAY AT ANY TIME DURING THE DAY. RAIN AND A FEW THUNDERSTORMS. AND THEN THIS FRONTAL BOUNDARY GETS OUT OF HERE AND IT LOOKS A LOT COOLER. TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, BUT ALSO A LOT LESS STORMY THAT TIME. YOU KNOW, I’VE SEEN THOSE PERCENTAGES FOR THIS WEEKEND GO FROM 40% TO 50%, 70% MORE CONFIDENT THAT WE’RE GOING TO GET STORMS, BUT WE’RE STILL NOT TERRIBLY CONFIDENT ON EXACTLY. YOU KNOW, IS OMAHA GOING TO GET THESE OR IS IT GOING TO BE LINCOLN OR IS IT GOING TO BE NEBRASKA CITY? WE STILL HAVE TO FINE TUNE THAT. IT’S LIKE YOU’RE TRYING TO PREDICT THE FUTURE. IT’S TOUGH. YOU’RE RIGHT. ALL RIGHT. WE A
