Boat captain finds Iowa woman’s ashes in bottle
, Fla. —
A Florida boat captain came across a bottle floating off the coast and inside was a letter with an Iowa mother’s ashes.
The letter said, “This is our mom, throw her back in. She’s traveling the world.”

“She always wanted to live in Florida. My sister lives in Florida. She always said I hate being cold; I’m going to move and be with your sister. I’m like, OK. Then she passed away before she got moved down there. So, we decided we would just take her ashes and set her in the warm water and let her go,” said Stacy Koenighain.
“This was just another exceptional day, and if you go out there on the water every day, cool things are bound to happen,” said Captain Jordan Truchan.
But the magic didn’t end there.
Stacy said she plans to stay friends with Jordan as her mom continues to see the world.
