TMZ reports that Wilson was notified Friday afternoon that he has been “permanently” kicked out of Slipknot. Neither the band nor Wilson has posted anything publicly confirming or denying TMZ’s report at the time of this publication, but guitarist Jim Root posted a message to his Instagram story that reads, “Don’t believe everything you read. Stop. Think. Take a breath. Sit with it for a while. Maybe. Just maybe even wait until there’s more information.”

Slipknot guitarist Jim Root posted a cryptic message to his Instagram story on the same night that TMZ reported DJ and turntablist Sid Wilson was kicked out of the band.

Slipknot was formed in Des Moines in 1995 by percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan, bassist Paul Gray, and vocalist Anders Colsefni. Colsefni left the band after the release of their debut album in 1996. Corey Taylor joined as lead vocalist in 1997. The band secured a record deal in 1998 and released their first studio album in 1999, which started their rise to fame.
Sid Wilson, of Slipknot, performs during a concert of its 25th Anniversary Tour at Calle 2 on Nov. 1, 2024, in Guadalajara, Mexico.
Wilson joined the band in 1997 and is considered one of the nine founding members. He is designated “#0.”
