Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium says the habitat now better supports animal care and the guest experience.
OMAHA, Neb. —
Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium reopened Stingray Beach Tuesday after a year of upgrades focused on animal care and the guest experience.
The zoo said the work included improvements to life support systems, water biofiltration equipment and water chemistry monitoring. It also changed the guest flow to better support animal wellbeing and safety.

“Connections with animals lead to empathy and a deeper appreciation for wildlife,” said Dr. Luis Padilla, president and CEO of Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium. “Stingrays are incredible ambassadors for our oceans.”
Guests can now see cownose stingrays and brown-banded bamboo sharks. Trained staff members will be on hand to help with interactions and feeding opportunities.
